BEIJING – China’s top search engine Baidu Inc has moved to strengthen its position in the mobile Internet era by launching a new mobile application system on Friday and competing with Internet rivals to provide more mobile services.

Lining up to buy a new gadget is nothing new for an Apple fan, but the new hot iPads and iPhones are ringing in a new level of Apple hysteria. On Friday, the stores that sell Apple products in Hong Kong sold out of all their iPads within hours of the first day of their launch. Some stores sold out within 30 minutes.
The booming tablet PC market will soon see Lenovo joining the competition at the end of this month, Chen Ji, a public relation’s official with the company said Sunday. Lenovo’s version of a tablet PC, LePad, made its debut at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. LePad offers a 10.1-inch display and weighs roughly 0.76 kilograms.
